Honda has introduced a shoe vibration navigation for the visually impaired

Honda EV engineer Wataru Chino has developed a navigation system called Shirase, which allows people with vision problems to determine the direction with the help of stops. The system consists of two parts: the Ashirase navigation application and a silicone shoe liner, where a motion sensor and an electronic compass are integrated. After entering the destination in the application, the earbuds will vibrate in various places and tempos: vibration under the pad of the foot will mean “go forward”, “turn left” and “turn right” will be indicated by vibration from the corresponding side.
