Acer launches the production of laptops and tablets made of antibacterial materials

The well-known Taiwanese computer manufacturer Acer has decided to contribute to the fight against coronavirus and other infections – its engineers have developed a series of laptops and tablets with cases made of materials capable of resisting harmful bacteria. Recently, the “antimicrobial” line was supplemented with accessories for them.
When creating such materials, silver ions and antibacterial Corning Gorilla Glass were used. In particular, silver ions are part of the coating of the case, keyboard, display, touch panel, hinge and fingerprint reader, as well as a number of other parts.
Silver ions (Ag+) are applied to the surface of Corning Gorilla Glass displays and touch panels, providing them with long-term antibacterial protection and preventing the appearance of stains and unpleasant odors. The line of devices with antibacterial properties includes Acer TravelMate Spin P4 laptops, Enduro Urban N3 and Urban T3 tablet. The Acer TravelMate Spin P4 is equipped with an 11th generation Intel Core i7 vPro processor and a 14-inch Full HD touchscreen display. The laptop can be laid out in several configurations – a stand, a “tent” and a tablet. The weight of the device is 1.53 kg, the thickness is 17.9 mm. The battery keeps the laptop running for 13.5 hours. Up to 80% of the power supply can be charged in an hour. The price is 1120 euros.
