ICON company will print the largest residential village in the world

One of the world leaders in the field of 3D printing, the American company ICON, together with the house-building company Lennar, are embarking on an ambitious project to build a residential area of 100 family homes in Austin, Texas, designed by the design firm Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG). The settlement will be the largest in the world built using this technology. Its implementation, like previous similar projects, will be carried out by a powerful 3D construction printer Icon Vulcan, layer by layer applying a cement mixture and forming the walls of residential buildings.
Then the work will be continued and completed by the builders. They will have to mount the roof, install doors, windows, conduct water, electricity, finish and arrange furniture. The project will start in 2022. There is no more detailed information yet, including its total cost. However, it is known that the houses already erected by ICON using three-dimensional printing technology cost their owners only $ 450,000.
