Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer will give you a job before employment using virtual reality

MGM Resorts is preparing to open a large entertainment complex in Osaka, Japan, for $9.1 billion, for which it is going to use a new technology for selecting employees. Virtual reality headsets from Strivr will be used as a basis, with the help of which they will recreate the atmosphere in the workplace with all its pros and cons. Applicants will be able to feel all the nuances “on their own skin” before making a decision.
The idea of using virtual reality for job seekers is caused by three factors. Firstly, because of the “great retirement” in the United States, there is an incredible personnel shortage in all areas, and we have to use various tricks to lure people to work (“Great Retirement” or “Big Departure” – the economic trend for mass layoffs provoked by the pandemic has been characteristic of the United States since the beginning of 2021).
Secondly, this company has not yet worked in Japan, its managers have difficulties with understanding the local mentality and recruiting staff. Finally, it is much easier to immediately let people know what they will face at work than to resolve conflict situations later.
Working with hotel guests and casino guests implies a lot of difficult situations, unpleasant dialogues and the need to satisfy conflicting customer requests. MGM Resorts employees are already being trained in all this with the help of virtual reality programs from Strivr. The technology has proven itself well, so they decided to expand it and transfer it to the personnel department.
