Asus has released the world’s first 17-inch laptop with a foldable OLED display
At CES-2022, Asus brought what it dubbed “the first folding 17-inch OLED laptop in history.” In fact, the laptop’s diagonal is even slightly larger – 17.3 inches, and the maximum resolution is 10801920. The screen shows a response time of 0.2 ms, has a brightness of 500 nits and a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1, and also supports Dolby Vision HDR.
The device can be used in an expanded form as a huge tablet, to which the ErgoSense keyboard and other accessories are connected. When folded, it is divided into two 12.5-inch displays with a resolution of 1920×1280 and an aspect ratio of 3:2. A virtual keyboard can be displayed on the bottom and the gadget can be used as a small laptop of classic format. But it is still possible to use both halves of the display to display a picture that smoothly transitions from one part to another.
The filling of the device consists of an Intel Core i7 chip of the 12th generation, with Intel Iris X graphics. On board there is 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a 1 TB hard drive. External interfaces are represented by Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 ports, two Thunderbolt 4 connectors and a 3.5mm combined audio jack – for an external microphone or headphones. The 5 MP webcam is equipped with noise reduction technology, and the built-in battery capacity is 75 W*h.
Other interesting features of the device include automatic adjustment of the brightness and color temperature of the screen. There is an infrared camera for accessing the Windows Hello service, and especially for this model Harman Kardon certified an audio system of 4 speakers with Dolby Atmos. Zenbook will start selling no earlier than the middle of the year, the price of the device is still unknown.
