A hacker in pajamas disconnected the whole of North Korea from the Internet

An American hacker hiding under the pseudonym P4x told a number of publications that he managed to paralyze the Internet all over North Korea alone. It was a show of revenge – a year ago he suffered from an attack by Korean hackers. And to add maximum humiliation, P4x held its action in pajamas, crunching chips and watching the movie “Alien” with one eye.
Such a large-scale attack, according to P4x, was carried out for three reasons. Firstly, the communication networks in the DPRK are small and highly centralized — it was enough to hack only a few basic servers. Secondly, there is extremely outdated equipment, the vulnerabilities of which have long been known, which the hacker took advantage of. And thirdly, a negligible number of users have an Internet connection in the country – no one was alarmed and did not repel the attack.
Most likely, this action will not bring any consequences, because the DPRK’s dependence on an Internet connection is small. You can consider this as an interesting experiment, if not for two aspects. On the one hand, the actions of P4x directly violate a number of American laws, plus international agreements. On the other hand, it is very unwise to arrange provocations of this kind against a power that possesses atomic weapons and is in a protracted confrontation with the country from which the attack was carried out.
