In five years, there will be a charging station on U.S. roads every 80 km

According to the published state program, the US government intends to allocate $ 5 billion to each state in the next five years to create a network of fast charging stations that will be installed every 80 km on federal highways.
Already this year, it is planned to allocate $ 615 million for the implementation of the project and another $ 300 million for the creation of a Joint Department of Energy and Transport. But that’s not all. In addition to 5 billion. The states will receive 2.5 billion in special grants. to install charging stations in remote and hard-to-reach areas. It is planned to use the CCS charging system as the main one.
The state program gives preference to American manufacturers of chargers, but a number of foreign companies, in particular, Australian Tritium and German Siemens, have expressed their desire to participate in the project.
Another problem is the creation of a charging payment system. Currently, most owners of electric vehicles (except Tesla owners) use special applications, to which, however, they have a lot of complaints.
Instead, standard plastic card readers will be installed at each charging station. In total, half a million charging stations are planned to be built in the United States by 2030 as part of the state program.
