Australian scientists have proposed a project of a planet-sized telescope.
A group of researchers led by Jixin Huang from Macquarie University in Australia proposed the concept of the largest and, in fact, ideal telescope in the world. We will not be able to build it for a long time, but we can develop the necessary technologies for this. The idea is to place an infinite number of conventional telescopes on the largest possible area and connect them with quantum communication. But with this approach, the number of interference and errors will be too large, so you need to build a full-fledged quantum computer. According to the research of the Huang team, such systems in theory have a self-correction function, and its activation does not require additional resources. This gives the quantum computer the ability to simultaneously process data and correct errors that accumulate in the process. The most curious thing left is to design and build such a machine.
